![]() ![]() Three Women Disappear had a strong Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie / Strangers on a Train feel to the story. However, will the "real killer or killers" get away with the murder? I quite liked this story as it was written well and fast-paced despite having a high number of characters and their viewpoints. As the book goes along, we learn that each of these women has a strong motive to start fresh and it looks like everybody involved in writing their own story and finding a perfect scapegoat to go down for the murder of Anthony Costello. Each woman though is telling their events of what happened and not pointing the blame at themselves. In Three Women Disappear we learn that a mob accountant named Anthony Costello has been killed and the three main suspects were the women in his life - his current wife Anna, his chef, and the wife of a police detective Sarah and a new immigrant, his maid Serena. ![]() This book contained two mystery stories - one full-length novel "Three Women Disappear" and a bonus novella called "Come and Get Us". I still really like this older version of Wolverine who’s been through the wringer and then some. ![]() The second volume of the Old Man Logan ongoing has some decent moments and strong art but the main story is a bit flimsy. But long-time enemies like Lady Deathstrike and the Reavers are surprised to discover Logan is seemingly back from the dead and set out to settle some old scores… Believing his dystopian future might still happen, he heads to a small gravel quarry mining town in the Great White North to protect his future wife, Maureen, who’s presently a kid. Regarding the story of Ged in A Wizard of Earthsea, Le Guin didn’t say that J.K. Rowling “ripped me off” in her Harry Potter series, but felt that Rowling should have been “ more gracious about her predecessors”. In the Earthsea series, we are introduced to the complex responsibilities of becoming an adult, and asked to consider the values of life and the nature of death. It’s heavy, but significant and humanly realistic reading for a teenager. Le Guin was fiercely protective and supportive of other authors. In 1973, she made a humorous critique of the problems faced by writers trying to make their worlds fantastical and strange in From Elfland to Poughkeepsie, encouraging and emphasising the importance of appropriate style. The Wind's Twelve Quarters is a collection of short stories by American writer Ursula K. Ursula Le Guin has been recognized for more than thirty years as one of the most important writers in the sf field and her readership has extended far. I consider her short story Semley’s Necklace – first published in 1964 and later included in The Wind’s Twelve Quarters – to be the finest of its kind in fantasy writing, its crystalline prose equal to Semley’s tragic fate. Le Guin maintained an interest in encouraging writers and sharing her art. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You can also find out where Katie is stopping on her book tour and how to get tickets by going to /goingthere. ![]() You can buy “Going There,” by Katie Couric, on Amazon, your local bookstore or wherever you like to buy books.
